This is a terribly delicious Fava bean soup that took me like three hours to make and all it produced was this one little bowl! I was taken in by the fresh favas at the farmer's market but didn't realize one had to remove them from the pods then SKIN EACH BEAN. Not worth it.

1) I think we already told you about the Oyster Gack, but it bears repeating that it was pretty disgusting. It was supposed to be a "delicious" casserole involving oysters and bread crumbs and cream, but it was mostly just gross. The great thing about the name is that one could interpret it as tasting like something an oyster gacked up or gack with oysters in it and still be right either way!

2) There was another incident with a recipe involving fish, lemon, herbs and some kind of bean baked in a foil pack. It was pretty unappealing - much like I imagine rest home food to taste, but blander. It left me pretty suspicious of any recipe that involves a foil baggie.

3) Meringue cookies. I love meringue cookies, especially crumbled up with fresh berries in the summer, but they never come out right when I make them. My last attempt was chewy - almost like meringue flavored gum. Now we just buy it at Trader Joe's. It tastes much better!

4) The last thing is not something I cooked, but that I was forced to eat at my friend Kevin's house. His crazy Italian friend helped him with the recipe for the turkey, and it involved this bizarre "gravy" that had a pudding-like consistency and involved orange juice, some kind of jelly and celery leaves as seasoning. He's a pretty bad cook on his own, so I didn't think it could get worse, but apparently it can!
